Hudson Magic Show – Fun-raiser at the Brainerd VFW
On Wednesday, November 20, the community was treated to a special magic show that helped raise funds-and-fun for the Minnesota Disabled American Veterans (DAV). It was organized by Tammy Ebertowski and supported by many local businesses and organizations. Members of the Brainerd Honor Guard were there to post the colors and lead the attendees with the Pledge of Allegiance.
A short presentation was given by Trent Dilks, the Minnesota State DAV Legislative Committee Chairman, who explained what the DAV did for Veterans, their families and survivors. The sponsors of this event were generous with their donations to the DAV.
The magician, Hudson, is a veteran himself, and his magical manipulations kept the children enthralled, as well as the adults. Scarves disappeared, ropes were cut and re-tied, and a breakfast egg vanished with the help of his young assistant, Bailey. It was a great half-hour show, followed by a luncheon and a raffle with gifts for both kids and adults. It was a treat to watch the kids’ eyes sparkle as they came forward to pick out a prize from the table.
This magic show was a fun time for everyone who attended. A big thank you to the businesses and organizations who made it possible.

August 26, 2024: Thank you to everyone who generously donated to the Crow Wing County Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit No. 22 Forget-Me-Not fundraiser. Also thank you to Mills Fleet Farm for allowing the Auxiliary to be at your entrance and exit doors. All donations raised are used to help veterans in the Brainerd community.

August 20, 2024: Minnesota DAV Chapter 22 served apple pie and ice cream to veterans and residents at the Edgewood Vista healthcare facility in Brainerd, MN. In total, 48 pieces of pie were served that day.

August 17, 2024: DAV Chapter 22 members and auxiliary were offering Forget Me Not flowers at Fleet Farm in Brainerd. One patron donated a $100 bill, which is seen being held by auxiliary member Karen Williams. Money raised goes directly to help veterans. There are no administrative expenses, it all goes to needy veterans.
November 2, 2023: The annual veteran pie social was held at the Northern Lights Senior Living Center in Brainerd. Brainerd VFW Auxiliary President Sue Sterling was there to get a few photos and file a report.
In an effort to show support for veterans and their families, members Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAVA) Unit 22 held a pie social at Northern Lakes Senior living in Brainerd. Several members of the DAVA are also members of the VFW auxiliary. Four men of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter (DAV) were present to visit with veterans. Spousal support is an important part of life in military service.
One of the most heartwarming moments of the social came when each veteran had the opportunity to share their own experiences of military service with the group and a sense of shared pride from having served their country. It was clear during the pie social that veterans enjoyed the opportunity to discuss and reflect upon their time in service.

August 21, 2022: Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary members were at Fleet Farm in Baxter accepting donations for Forget Me Not flowers. The money goes to help veterans in need. The ladies are also VFW Auxiliary members.
