Anniversaries of 9-11, 2001
The attack on our country at the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon and a plane crash near Shanksville Pennsylvania, claimed the lives of 2996 people. An interesting thing happened that day. Americans gained a new appreciation for our nation's military, many of whom went to war to avenge 9-11. The more unified feeling included an increased respect for Vietnam veterans.
September 11, 2021, is The Brainerd Honor Guard held a ceremony at the All-Veterans Memorial to commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9-11.

One good turn deserves another. The thousands of good turns done on September 11, 2001, deserve the promise that our citizens will never forget those that died for them. The Brainerd VFW wants to thank the first responders who continue to put their lives on the line for us, and to all who help make this town and country safe.
The Brainerd VFW is committed to serving all the veterans that put their lives on the line following the attack on that fateful day. We are here to help and guide our veterans and their families to overcome the hardships they experience because of their deployment. If you or someone you know has served our country in times of conflict, we encourage you to come by our club at 309 South Sixth Street in Brainerd and let us know how we can be of service to you.

Editorial September 11, 2021: 911, 2001, that fateful day when 2996 innocent people died in an attack on our country.
We all remember where we were that morning in 2001. I heard a news bulletin come over one of our local radio stations. Then to a television to see the horrific event unfold. It shook me to the core thinking of how our country could be attacked. It is a sad commentary that others would try to gain by destroying so many lives. This kind of treachery cannot stand. My thanks to our nation's all-volunteer military for taking up the challenge of avenging 911. Many service members died in the process. Ceremonies are held each year in Brainerd honoring all Americans involved. It is a sobering reminder that the War on Terror is not over. |
