Veterans of Foreign Wars Buddy Poppy Program
Buddy Poppies are the official memorial flower of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Donations for poppies started in 1922, some 97 years ago, to help disabled veterans. Poppies are assembled by disabled veterans in VA Hospitals. All expenses are paid locally by the Brainerd VFW, then 100% of the money raised goes to needy veterans locally.
Brainerd VFW members, including Mark Persons, were out asking for donations from local businesses. In return, businesses get a display telling customers they support veterans.
Buddy Poppies will be offered individually at stores and on street corners around Brainerd Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, 2019. Donate and wear a Buddy Poppy proudly. It is the right thing to do.
