The Brainerd VFW reminds everyone to attend the annual Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 25th, honoring those who died in service to our country. Starting at 9 am at Laurel Street Bridge, then 9:30 at the All-Veterans Memorial, a 10 am parade on 3rd Avenue, then a 10:30 ceremony, with the BHS band, at Evergreen Cemetery. Volunteers from the Brainerd Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at local stores this Friday and Saturday offering Buddy Poppies for donations. These red poppies symbolize the courage and sacrifice of servicemen and women. There is no overhead, 100% of the money goes to help veterans. Here is your chance to drop a dollar or more in a bucket to help needy veterans. Donate and wear a Poppy proudly on Buddy Poppy Days this Friday and Saturday. Details at BrainerdVFW.org

Those with a military connection can join the Auxiliary. Visitors and non-members are welcome. The Brainerd VFW is a community service organization. Enjoy Bingo and burgers on Monday, tacos on Tuesday and hamburgers on Thursday.  Charitable gambling includes Bingo, pull tabs and E-tabs. License 00475. The VFW is near 6th and Laurel downtown. National Vietnam Veterans Day is being celebrated again this year at the Brainerd VFW on Friday, March 27th from 5 to 7 pm. Vietnam veterans and their significant others are invited for free food and beverage. They are encouraged to bring photos and memorabilia to share and to talk about their experiences.
