Tuesday, August 6, 2024: The Nisswa A&W Restaurant was offering free root beer floats to those who donate to the Disabled American Veterans organization.
Store Owner Emma Krueger and Manager Noel Bocklund were there to wave visitors in. Then they visited with veterans. Local veterans and families from the VFW, Legion and DAV stopped in for floats and conversation. |
August 6, 2024: Starting at 8:20 am, Mark Persons and Chaplain Rios were interviewed live in Brainerd by on KLIZ-FM by Zach Mahoney, then on B93.3 FM and KUAL-FM by Bill Satre at 9 am. They talked about Patriot Grounds, BrainCore and Root Beer Day.
Thursday, August 6, 2020, 2 pm: The Nisswa A&W Restaurant gave free root beer floats to anyone donating to Disabled American Veterans this day. It is a cause that has been a part of the A&W since its founding in 1919. The top center photo shows Nisswa A&W owner Emma Kruger and manager Noel Carson. The upper right photo shows Mark Persons, his wife Paula, the Root Beer Bear and Dave Meyer, Commander of the Crow Wing County DAV. A number of folks expressed their feelings by saying, "Thanks for your service." More veterans showed up at other times of the day.
