December 14, 2016: NBC News came to interview veterans at the Brainerd VFW. It was about the VA health care system and problems with Veteran's Choice. In the end, the interview aired on NBS News with Brainerd VFW Senior Vice Commander as the main subject.
October 27, 2016: The Brainerd VFW received the Distinguished Service Award as the outstanding non-profit of the year. It was from the Brainerd Jaycees and Brainerd Community Action. Brainerd VFW Commander Chip Borle is shown here receiving the award from Brainerd Mayor Ed Menk.
August 7, 2016: The Brainerd VFW held its annual picnic at St. Mathias Park, about 12 miles south of Brainerd. Events included a ban bag toss, an egg toss and door prizes.
Lots of good food and fun.
March 17, 2016: St Patrick's Day at the Brainerd VFW.
March 16, 2016: Three members of the Brainerd VFW participated in the annual Veterans on the Hill gathering at the capitol in St. Paul asking for veteran friendly legislation. Those participating were Senior Vice Commander Dave Meyer, Junior Vice Commander Mike Williams and member Mark Persons. They joined several hundred veterans from around the state. The trip was partially funded by the Disabled American Veterans organization.
They stopped at the Minnesota Vietnam Veterans' Memorial honoring those who died in the conflict.
