January 9, 2024: Craig Coonan gave a talk at the Brainerd VFW and Auxiliary meeting about how the VFW helped him in his Eagle Scout project. He also mentioned he is talking with the local Marine Corps recruiter about joining the Marines after high school graduation.

January 7, 2024: A Boy Scout Court of Honor was held for Craig Coonan and Benjamin Beasley of Brainerd. The two became Eagle Scouts that day. Craig spoke without notes talking about his journey to become an Eagle.

September 30, 2023: Craig Coonan, from Scout Pack 45, took on a project to clean veteran graves in Evergreen Cemetery at Brainerd. His goal is to become an Eagle Scout That means project panning, getting volunteers and some money from the Brainerd VFW to purchase supplies. Of particular interest is a product called D2, which is used to clean monuments and graves in Washington, D.C.
From Craig: I had a total of 21 people join me in cleaning sections 11 and 14 of Evergreen Cemetery from 9 am -1:30 pm. We cleaned and reset about 30 graves of veterans from WWI and prior. We used a biological cleaner called D-2, the same stuff that Arlington National Cemetery uses. There were veterans dating all the way back to the Civil War and the Spanish-American War.
May 29, 2023: You will remember that Scout Pack 45, with Craig Coonan, put up casket flags at Evergreen Cemetery on Memorial Day.
November 3, 2022: Craig Coonan won first place in the 2022 - 2023 Brainerd VFW Voice of Democracy completion.
