Saturday, March 14, 2025: St. Patrick's Day was celebrated in downtown Brainerd starting with a kids costume judging competiton. The judges had a hard time deciding. Even the police where there to bephotographed with kids.

Then it was time for the Brainerd Color Guard to get ready, then lead the 1 pm downtown parade. Lots of candy for the kids in spite of the 30-degree snowy weather.
Saturday, March 16, 2024: The Brainerd VFW was a gathering spot for those celebrating St. Patrick's Day.
The VFW crew serving Mulligan Stew with Irish Soda Bread starting at 11 am.
There was a full house. Registration for kid's costume judging contest at 11:30 am with awards at noon, which included a bike for a boy and a bike for a girl.
The parade started at 1 pm.
The Brainerd Color Guard led the parade.

March 11, 2023: The St. Patrick's Day in Brainerd, held the Saturday before March 17th. It was a full house at the Brainerd VFW when people and little people showed up for the annual costume judging.
Then there was the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade down 7th Street and up Laurel Street in downtown Brainerd. Several hundred turned out in spite of snowy weather.
Only one in 10,000 clovers has four leaves. The rest have three. What do you call an Irish spider? Answer: Patty Longlegs! Everyone is Irish for one day a year!
Saturday, March 12, 2022:St. Patrick's Celebration in Brainerd was held on . There was a kid's costume contest at noon at the VFW and parade in downtown at 1 pm. Photos below.
The Brainerd VFW was a gathering spot on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Those who "claimed" to be Irish on this day showed up for corned beef and cabbage.
March 13, 2021: It was the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day. People came out to celebrate even if the annual parade was cancelled.
March 14, 2020: The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Brainerd was cancelled, but that didn't stop people in green from enjoying corned beef and cabbage at the Brainerd VFW. Auxiliary Senior Vice President Helen Doucette reminded visitors that tips are appreciated by the volunteer staff.
March 16, 2019: St. Patrick's Day. The Brainerd VFW was host to the kid's costume judging competition as a part of the 19th Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration in downtown Brainerd. Local caricature artist Greg Gray was there to delight the crowd with his drawings. There was a parade through downtown led by the VFW/Legion/DAV Color Guard. Corned beef and cabbage was served by the VFW Auxiliary.
March 17, 2018: The Brainerd Downtown Association used the Brainerd VFW as a place to hold their annual St. Patrick's Day Kid's Costume Contest. Two bicycles were given away along with other prizes. The VFW served corned beef and cabbage. Then a parade was held on streets nearby, led by the Color Guard.
