Garland Giving Tree For Needy Veterans
December 18, 2023:
Wow, what a great response to our Garland Giving Tree from our patrons. More than 50 veterans’ names were chosen from the tree for gift-giving and returned to the club for dispersal.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, seven elves (otherwise known as auxiliary members) came to the club to organize and gift wrap each gift. Many were already wrapped, and we left them that way. If a card was included with the gift, we made sure that the veteran got that too. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the gifts and the thought that went into each one. Once wrapped and sorted by nursing home, our personal Santa(s) delivered all 80+ gifts using SUVs instead of reindeer.
A big thank you to our Elf Manager, Dawn Garin, for all the time and effort she put into getting the gifts organized.

December 1, 2023: GIVE A GIFT TO A VETERAN
The Brainerd VFW Auxiliary is giving VFW patrons the opportunity to purchase a gift for a veteran living in a nursing home in the Brainerd/Baxter area. This Garland Giving Tree has decorated gift tags with names of veterans and a present suggested by that veteran.
Take the name tag you like best, sign your name next to the number on the tag, and purchase a gift. Bring that gift back to
the VFW by December 15 and give it to the bartender. The auxiliary members will wrap that gift and get it to the veteran. If
you include a signed card with the gift, that will be sent with it.
The gifts for the tags not chosen by our patrons will be purchased by the auxiliary, along with 40-50 other gifts for the
other names at eight nursing homes.
If you have any questions,
contact Sue Sterling by phone
or text at 218-831-5540.
